This exhibition brings together the legacy and current work of four former artists from the Black Panther Party to illuminate the role of art in cultivating a radical imagination and developing activist practices. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Creative Writing Fellowships program offers $50,000 grants in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and poetry to published creative writers that enable recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement. Applications are reviewed through an anonymous process in which the primary criteria for review are the artistic excellence and artistic merit of the submitted writing sample. Through this program, the NEA seeks to strengthen the literary arts ecosystem by sustaining and nurturing a wide range of creative writers at various stages of their careers, and to continue to expand the portfolio of American art available to people from all backgrounds. | Deadline: March 12, 2025 | More information and application.

Mother’s Milk is a 2, 4, or 6 week interdisciplinary residency, designed to support visual artists, composers/ sound artists, creative writers, dancers/choreographers and other creatives who are pursuing innovative work in their field. The goal of this program is to provide individuals or collaborators with the time and space to pursue their creative projects alongside three or four other residents whose different perspectives, backgrounds and interests offer inspiration and interaction. BalletCollective’s Commission for Developing Choreographers, now in its seventh year, offers choreographers the chance to partner closely with a composer and a “source artist” (any non-performative artist) to produce an original dance work and score. Two choreographers will be commissioned to make works that will premiere with live musical accompaniment during BalletCollective’s annual fall season in New York, NY in 2026, which also has the honor of being BalletCollective’s 15th Anniversary Season. | Deadline: February 2, 2025 | More information and application.

Woodstock AIR invites US-based BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, Native American) identifying artists working in any genre of photography or related media to apply. Applicants currently enrolled in a full-time degree program must complete their degree program by May 2025 (with the exception of Ph.D. students) in order to qualify for the 2025 open call for Woodstock AIR. Artists-in-Residence (AIRs) are given access to facilities and financial, critical, and technical support.
