The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH) is an international cooperation initiative that supports projects that protect and rehabilitate cultural heritage threatened or damaged by conflict or climate change in vulnerable countries. Through the current call for proposals, which prioritizes projects in Africa, funding will be provided to projects addressing the intersection of climate change and cultural heritage across three categories of projects: 1) protection, conservation, and rehabilitation; 2) capacity-building and knowledge transfer; and 3) actionable research. Successful proposals will integrate at least one of these types of initiatives, with priority given to projects integrating more than one of the themes. (Projects within ALIPH’s traditional mission that fall outside the priority themes for this call will also be considered, including those focused on climate change in other areas and conflicts worldwide.) Emphasizing direct engagement with contemporary visual art, VIA Art Fund supports projects that exemplify the core values of artistic production, thought leadership, and public engagement. The Fund’s Artistic Production Grants are awarded twice annually to artists, nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, art production platforms, and biennials or festivals working in the field of contemporary art in the United States and internationally. Support is provided for new artistic commissions that take place outside museum or gallery walls, within the public realm or in non-traditional exhibition environments. If the project takes place in the United States, the featured artists may be U.S.-based or international. Each year, the Public Library Association (PLA), in partnership with AT&T, offers financial support to public libraries through digital literacy incentive programs. These competitive programs provide the funding and resources necessary for libraries to teach basic digital literacy skills using PLA's DigitalLearn courses and training materials. Since 2022, PLA has helped nearly 400 public libraries conduct more than 3,800 workshops, training more than 19,000 learners across the country. With support from AT&T as part of AT&T Connected Learning and the company's commitment to bridging the digital divide, we have been able to add and update more than a dozen online DigitalLearn courses and develop 9 new complete training packages. The $15 million program will support the creation of public space activation initiatives, such as place making projects, public art installations, and arts-based projects along commercial corridors in 31 municipalities. Non-profit organizations with a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(6), or 501(c)(19) status are eligible to apply. Permitted uses of funding include: placemaking projects, public art installations, arts-based projects, art exhibitions, performances, festivals, parades, concerts or concert series, film and video screenings, and cultural programming. CERF+’s Get Ready program provides individual craft artists grants up to $1,000 to conduct activities that will help safeguard their studios, protect their careers and prepare for emergencies. Artists are encouraged to use the Risk Assessment activity to generate ideas. In October 2020, New Music USA announced the launch of Reel Change: The Fund for Diversity in Film Scoring, powered by SESAC and composer Christophe Beck, sponsored by Amazon Studios, and administered by New Music USA. Responding to the fact that the vast majority of films are scored by white men, Reel Change is a five-year grants and mentorship program for composers of diverse backgrounds who have been marginalized in film composition. | Rolling Deadline. | Application and information.

The Yéigo Action Grant provides support for the growing landscape of Native artists and culture bearers who need financial assistance with a professional development opportunity or towards a hardship that is hindering their creative practice. This program offers grants between $100 and $5,000 for individual Native artists and culture bearers. First Peoples Fund (FPF) finds it essential to support artists in their times of need, especially when their work is impacted by sudden hardship. This grant’s name incorporates the Diné word yéigo, often used as a phrase of encouragement that can mean “keep going” or “don’t give up.” While some requests related to a current artistic project may be eligible, please note that Yéigo Action Grants are not intended to assist with funding new artist projects or to provide general support for an existing project. | Deadline: 10th of every month | More information and application.

The Museum Grants for African American History and Culture program supports projects that nurture museum professionals, build institutional capacity, and increase access to museum and archival collections at African American museums and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Projects designed to build the capacity of African American museums may involve increasing the number of museum professionals working at African American museums to enable the museum to expand educational programs, engage with the community, enhance organizational operations and resiliency, or provide for enhanced care of collections. | Deadline: November 15, 2024 | More information here.
