The Capital Arts – Historic Locations Grant Program supports capital projects for nonprofit arts organizations located in New Jersey. In FY23, the program will be presented in partnership with the New Jersey Historic Trust and will include the distribution of approximately $2.7 million in State Arts Council grant funds. The grant program is designed to help New Jersey’s nonprofit arts organizations operating locations with historic designation(s) or certified eligible for historic designation, build operational stability and capacity and improve or enhance a historic facility through: • construction • repair or expansion of existing facilities • acquisition/installation of building service equipment (plumbing, mechanical, and/or electrical equipment, et. al.)

Special Initiative Grants are intended to support new projects or unanticipated needs for current Council

grantees that are not part of the organization’s regular, planned, or ongoing work.

For this grant round, eligible projects are offered in two categories:

1. projects in response to issues or opportunities not accounted for at the time of FY23 contract

filing; and,

1. project-related internships for an emerging arts administrator, hosted by the applicant

organization.

The New Jersey Cultural Trust Capital Historic Preservation Grants Program is collaboratively administered by the New Jersey Historic Trust for and with the New Jersey Cultural Trust. The Cultural Trust Act (2000) created a Trust Fund, from which grants may be awarded to support capital projects, endowments and institutional and financial stabilization of qualified organizations. The Act directs the New Jersey Historic Trust to design and administer programs that recommend capital projects to the Cultural Trust. All history, arts and humanities organizations with stewardship responsibility for historic resources that are listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places, and qualified by the New Jersey Cultural Trust, are eligible to apply for 2023 (FY24) capital historic preservation funding. The New Jersey Cultural Trust was established by law in July 2000 to develop a permanent source of funding for arts, history and humanities organizations. The New Jersey Historic Trust was established by statute in 1967 as a nonprofit historic preservation organization created to preserve and protect New Jersey’s historic resources. Through its programs and activities, the Historic Trust assists, supports, and safeguards historic structures throughout the State. To be eligible for funds, an organization must be a New Jersey-based, nonprofit organization that has been qualified by the Cultural Trust by March 15, 2023. In order to become qualified by this date, qualification applications must be postmarked no later than February 17, 2023 and submitted to the Cultural Trust. The NJHC’s General Operating Support (GOS) program was established in 2000 to provide critical support to organizations engaged in preserving, researching, and interpreting New Jersey history. Its primary goal is to encourage excellence and innovation.

Project grants must deliver high-quality, engaging New Jersey history to a diverse audience. The applicant must demonstrate that it practices professional standards specific to its discipline. Project grants are available to both individuals and organizations. Project Grants at a Glance  Applicants can request up to $20,000 in support of their project.  Applicants are only allowed to submit one application per Project grant round.  Individuals and organizations are restricted to one open Project grant at a time.  Organizational applicants are allowed to be recipients of both the GOS grant program and the Project grant program.

In December 2021, the Poetry Foundation announced a new grantmaking strategy to provide support to the fields of poetry and literary arts.

The Poetry Foundation has committed $9 million over three years, beginning in 2022. Grants will support US-based nonprofit organizations through the following priorities:

• Continuing relief funding in 2022 to nonprofit poetry and literary arts organizations impacted by the pandemic;
• Investing in building and strengthening the capacity of BIPOC leadership at nonprofit poetry, literary arts, and publishing organizations, and programs;
• Cultivating and engaging new, diverse audiences for poetry;
• Fostering new collaborations and partnerships, as well as innovation and new technologies in the field.

The Poetry Foundation is a private foundation; its mission is to amplify poetry and celebrate poets by fostering spaces for all to create, experience, and share poetry. The Foundation strives to achieve this through an array of programs and publications designed to develop new audiences, create innovative avenues for delivery, and recognize and support all forms of poetry.

These goals are grounded in the Foundation’s values and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The Foundation’s grantmaking initiative actively seeks to build equitable practices and share its resources ethically within the poetry ecosystem to achieve this aim.

ArtsCONNECT supports touring projects collaboratively developed by presenters working together in the mid-Atlantic region. The tours include performances as well as complementary engagement activities designed to create greater understanding or connections between artists, audiences, and communities.

Two or more Presenters located in the mid-Atlantic region who partner to present the same artist/company during the project period can each receive up to 50% subsidy for that artist/company’s compensation (including artistic compensation, housing, per diem and travel) plus support for other eligible project expenses.

Mid Atlantic Arts’ grant programs for organizations strengthen the region’s presenter network, give communities access to high quality artistic experiences, build audiences, and provide opportunities for greater understanding and appreciation of the arts.

Grants for Arts Projects is our largest grants program for organizations, providing comprehensive and expansive funding opportunities for communities.

Applicants may request cost share/matching grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

Designated local arts agencies eligible to subgrant may request from $30,000 to $150,000 for subgranting programs in the Local Arts Agencies discipline. A minimum cost share/match equal to the grant amount is required.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Preservation and Access is accepting applications for the Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections program. This program helps cultural institutions meet the complex challenge of preserving large and diverse holdings of humanities materials for future generations by supporting sustainable conservation measures that mitigate deterioration, prolong the useful life of collections, and strengthen institutional resilience (i.e., the ability to anticipate and respond to disasters resulting from natural or human activity).
