Blackboard Plays is partnering with Parent Artist Advocacy League (PAAL) to promote a platform for Black Playwrights who tell stories about Black Families. Black Motherhood & Parenting New Play Festival is in the process of finalizing our playwright submissions. Play finalists will be selected and will have a week long development workshop during Fall 2023. Additionally each show will rehearse, be virtually captured and be streamed in 2024. 

We are seeking performers for both the development workshop and production for this upcoming BMPFest season. Please note, these will be separate contracts. Actors cast in the workshops might not be cast for the 2024 productions. 

Development Workshop: Actors will receive a $150 stipend 

Virtual Play Productions (2024 Rehearsal/Captures): Actors will receive a $300 stipend 

BMPFest supports the full spectrum of identities for performing artists. Actors of all ethnicities, physical abilities, sizes, ages and gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.

DC Gallery & Studio is seeking artists to participate in our upcoming holiday exhibition. Open Call for jewelry, woodworking, small original art, prints, cards, glass, fiber art, ceramics, and unique items of all mediums. All items must be tagged for sale, with artist name included, display racks/stands are encouraged but not mandatory. Consignment sales: 60% to artists. Opening reception: Friday, December 15 6pm-8pm. Call for Creatives to Participate in a Research Project, Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, Seeking to Better Understand the Impact of Covid-19 on Artists and Designers.

Individuals ages 18 and older living anywhere in United States during the COVID-19 pandemic, who work in the visual, performing, writing, or design arts are invited to be interviewed. We define “the arts” and “creatives” broadly, to include the following fields: performance, dance, music, theater, design, fashion, architecture, creative writing, film, media arts, illustration, craft, and fine art.

This research project explores COVID-19-related impacts on employment, creative practices, and resilience among artists. This broadens understanding of COVID-19 impacts on the American art world.

Findings will be used to create reports and academic articles to educate others about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on artists. The study seeks artists and creatives as research participants to be part of qualitative interviews to discuss the impact of COVID-19. Questions will be focused on individuals’ creative practice, employment, and day to day activities.

The South Jersey Community Reporters workshop series was conceived in mid-2023 as a collaboration between the South Jersey Information Equity Project and the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.

Artists Sunday is the nationwide movement dedicated to supporting artists and recognizing the impact they have in enriching our lives, communities, and the economy.

The powerful new effort is designed to make the Sunday after Thanksgiving the most profitable day of the year for artists. Consumers are encouraged to shop with artists and purchase creative, handcrafted gifts for the holidays. Artists Sunday follows Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, prior to Cyber Monday.

The Dance New Jersey Regrant Program 2023 is designed to support the recovery and renewal of the New Jersey dance community due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19 and non-pandemic challenges. Grant requests up to $2,000 are available with no additional requirements for the artists other than a final report and recognition of the award on their website and social media outlets as applicable.

DNJ funds will support a diverse range of dance artists from across the state. In efforts to create a more equitable dance community, DNJ will award a minimum of 50% of grant funds to BIPOC-identifying dance artists. Alongside grant awards, DNJ will facilitate a virtual meet and greet for artists to network and share their artistic practices. DNJ will also highlight each artist through social media outlets, newsletters, and the DNJ website to acknowledge and spread awareness of each dance artist and the vibrant NJ dance community in action.

Poetry Out Loud (POL) is a national poetry recitation program for students in grades 9-12, or the age/grade equivalent. Traditionally designed for public, charter, parochial school and home school teachers, POL recently announced opportunities for parents, community leaders, organizations, and other interested facilitators to engage with the program. In addition to high school participants, other grades are welcome to register and run the program at the school level, but do not qualify for the contest.

Poetry Out Loud, a free national program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, encourages high school students across the country to learn about great works of classic and contemporary poetry through memorization and recitation. Not only do they share their interpretation and delivery of poetry; they also vie for awards and scholarships totaling $50,000.
