Through fellowships to published translators, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) supports projects for the translation of specific works of prose, poetry, or drama from other languages into English. The work to be translated should be of interest for its literary excellence and merit. We encourage translation projects that feature languages, perspectives, and writers that are not well represented in English, as well as work that has not previously been translated into English. The NEA is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering mutual support for the diverse beliefs and values of all individuals and groups. Applying for a federal grant can be time consuming. We estimate that after registering, the process to draft and submit an application takes approximately 12 hours. Competition for fellowships is rigorous. The National Leaders of Color Fellowship (LoCF) is accepting applications! LoCF is a transformative leadership development experience curated by WESTAF in order to establish multicultural leadership in the creative and cultural sector. During the program, fellows receive access to specialists in the field, strategic learning objectives determined to deepen thought on anti-racist and culturally-oriented leadership practices, and national-level network and cohort building. Upon completion of this program, participants transition to alumni status and have opportunities to collaborate with the US Regional Arts Organization (URSAO) in their region as advisors, funding panelists, and/or other professional capacities. Active bequest management is the best way to honor your donors’ wishes and increase your organization’s planned giving revenue. But what is bequest management? The short answer is that bequest management is the exercise of basic financial responsibility.Just as having a detailed understanding of your own income and expenses is the key to financial wellbeing, a detailed understanding of every matured bequest is the key to prompt and complete receipt of the intended gift. All too often bequests are subject to interpretation, delay, dispute, and outright denial. These devils-in-the-details can also occur without an organization’s knowledge or opportunity to respond. A few issues that often arise include: trustees’ excessive fees or delayed distributions, financial custodians’ withholding of funds, heirs’ interventions, competing amendments, vague or ambiguous language, incapacity and undue influence – not to mention plain old mistakes. All of these issues can be remedied with a disciplined and detailed bequest management program. The Teagle Foundation works to support and strengthen liberal arts education in the United States. The Foundation’s Transfer Pathways to the Liberal Arts initiative, jointly sponsored with the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, aims to bring the lifelong benefits of a liberal arts education to students who historically have been excluded from higher education—including low-income students, first-generation students, students of color, and immigrant students—who now constitute the “new majority” of undergraduates and depend on community college as their gateway to higher education. Support is provided for statewide, regional, or consortial academic partnerships between public two-year and private four-year colleges to facilitate transfer and completion of the baccalaureate in the liberal arts. The focus is on building comprehensive curricular frameworks between community colleges and independent colleges and ensuring alignment in learning objectives between lower and upper division coursework, transferability and applicability of credits, and timely completion of the baccalaureate in the liberal arts. | Deadline: The last concept paper deadline for 2024 is December 1, 2024 | Application and information.

Cultural Sustainability, a new grant program offered by the six U.S. Regional Arts Organizations (USRAOs) in partnership with The Wallace Foundation, provides general operating support to arts organizations rooted in communities of color with annual operating expenses under $500,000. Mid Atlantic Art’s Cultural Sustainability program will open in October 2024.
