Appel Farm Arts Camp is a radically supportive, gender-affirming, conscious community that supports non-competitive arts exploration and personal growth. Appel Farm Arts Camp is located in picturesque Elmer, New Jersey, just 40 minutes southwest of Philadelphia, and offers an overnight camp experience to youth ages 7 - 17.
The Theater Department Head is a Camp Leadership role. This person will create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and fun classroom environment for campers involved in theater classes; train, manage, and support staff and classes; Plan curriculum, trips and showcases; support skill-building in campers and staff, manage scheduling, communication with families and guardians. Theater Department Head will help to train theater program staff in classroom management, conflict resolution and mediation, and curriculum planning. This person will also serve on the Camp Emergency Response Team.
Ideal experience includes: 4+ years of working with ages 7–17, a degree or equivalent work experience in your particular subject area, and previous supervisory experience required. Evidence of anti bias approach to youth care in previous work.
This position is required to live on camp. Camp housing and all meals provided by Appel Farm. Weekly schedule varies according to camp class schedule, and includes 36 hours time off per week and additional off-duty periods each day.

End Date: 8/13/2023
Compensation: $375 - $450 per week, depending on experience
