As energy costs rise and natural disasters become more frequent, humanities organizations - such as museums, libraries, archives, historic sites, and colleges and universities - face an enormous task: to anticipate operational, physical, and financial impacts of climate-related events on their institutions, while also reducing their own impact on the environment. Climate Smart Humanities Organizations supports these efforts by offering federal matching funds for comprehensive organizational assessments that lead to strategic climate action and adaptation plans. Through the Climate Smart program, your humanities organization can undertake activities such as energy audits, risk assessments, and meetings with consultants. The resulting climate smart plan helps you establish goals and prioritize actions that reduce your organization’s impacts on the environment through mitigation and vulnerability from extreme events through adaptation. Together, mitigation and adaptation can inform a robust road map that addresses climate challenges, protects assets, and facilitates collaboration between internal and external stakeholders. We believe the arts are essential to the health and vitality of our communities and our nation. We are passionate about supporting artists in creating. We recognize the great need for support, and that receiving funding can sometimes be a complicated process. This is why we decided to do what we can to assist you and why our application process has been made simple. Integrity: Arts & Culture Association (IACA) Mini-Grants generally average $250, and are intended to assist with such things as: artistic supplies, recordings, studio time, exhibits, performances, project related expenses, residences, etc. This is our way of planting seeds that we believe will continue to grow. Given the pandemic, funding requests for remote programs and projects are most welcome. This program was started in honor of every artist who has ever impacted the life of another. This program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies to artists in financial need* who are creating in the visual arts, film/video/electronic/digital arts, and choreography. Only generative artists are eligible—artists creating their own, independent work, with recent and ongoing opportunities for the public to experience that work. ART+BIO Collaborative is an artist- and scientist-led not-for-profit organization that fosters the integration of Science, Nature, and Art through novel collaborations, public engagement, education, and research. The David Whitehouse Research Residency for Artists is open to artists who want to utilize the Museum’s resources, including the permanent collections and the holdings of the Rakow Research Library, to inform their practice. The residency is named for the former executive director of The Corning Museum of Glass, David Whitehouse, a highly regarded scholar who worked to build the resources of the Rakow Library and was a major supporter of artists working in glass. This residency gives artists time and resources for deep exploration of topics using the vast collections of The Rakow Research Library and the Museum, as well as providing access to expert Museum staff. The David Whitehouse Research Residency for Artists is not a glassmaking residency; no provisions are made for artists to create work at The Studio. Transportation, as well as room and board, are provided to those awarded residencies. The Studio’s Artist-in-Residence program brings artists from around the world to Corning, New York. Artists spend focused time at The Studio exploring new directions in glassmaking or expanding on their current bodies of work while using the immense resources of the world’s leading glass museum. Artists will benefit from the recently completed Wendell Weeks & Kim Frock Residency Center, which features seven studios surrounding a light-filled lounge that will be a hub for creative exchange and connection among residents. The Studio facility is equipped for furnace working, flameworking, kiln working, and cold working processes, and can support other glassworking and fabrication methods upon request. Transportation, as well as room and board, is provided to those awarded residencies. A generous supply budget and studio space are provided to each artist. Residents have access to the Rakow Research Library, the extensive collection of The Corning Museum of Glass, and expert Museum staff. The NEH Division of Education supports professional development programs for K-12 educators, higher education faculty, and humanities professionals to study a variety of humanities topics. Institutes are one to four-week professional development programs that convene K-12 educators or higher education faculty from across the nation to deepen their understanding of significant topics in the humanities and enrich their capacity for effective scholarship and teaching. Landmarks of American History and Culture programs are one-week workshops held across the nation that enhance how K-12 educators, higher education faculty, and humanities professionals incorporate place-based approaches to humanities teaching and scholarship. The National Humanities Medal honors individuals and organizations whose work has deepened our nation’s understanding of and engagement with history, literature, languages, philosophy, and other humanities subjects. The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) established this annual prestigious award in 1997 as the successor to the Charles Frankel Prize in the Humanities, which the agency sponsored from 1989 to 1996. The Dynamic Language Infrastructure – Documenting Endangered Languages (DLI-DEL) Fellowships are offered as part of a joint, multi-year funding program of NEH and the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop and advance scientific and scholarly knowledge concerning endangered human languages. Addressing the imminent loss of linguistic knowledge is a major concern and a priority for both agencies. The broad range of human languages are vital for understanding human behavior and cognition, but roughly half of the world's seven thousand languages are endangered and at risk of extinction. These endangered languages constitute an irreplaceable resource, not only for the communities who speak them, but also for scientists and scholars. DLI-DEL Fellowships support individuals who are junior or senior linguists, linguistic anthropologists, and sociolinguists to conduct research on one or more endangered or moribund languages. DLI-DEL Fellowships prioritize scholarly analysis and publication, including but not limited to lexicons, grammars, databases, peer-reviewed articles, and monographs.
