A speaker from the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts will speak on emergency planning for dramatic weather patterns that threaten your collection or even your museum itself. Have you planned for storm driven higher tides and/or flooding? How about damage from tornadoes? Hurricanes? This session will help you identify and plan for perils to your organization’s assets. The Film Festival presents opportunities for high schoolers, college students and independent filmmakers of Passaic County to showcase their short films as a creative and technical effort. The GRAMMY® Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer is known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for its dazzling virtuosity and wide-ranging repertoire rooted in the renaissance, with continued expansion to include a wide range of classical, gospel, jazz, popular music, and a deep commitment to the commissioning of new compositions and arrangements. The Marie Rader Series is proud to present Chanticleer’s Music of a Silent World program, in which the ensemble sings the songs of the natural world and gives a voice to the otherwise voiceless rocks and stones and trees and rivers that share our planet with us. The program centers around a new arrangement of Majel Connery's The Rivers are our Brothers. “The goal,” she says, “is to give nature a voice. I wanted to allow these vibrant things to speak on their own behalf.” While inhabiting those voices, the program also explores what the world might be like without them. Repertoire includes music by William Byrd, Heinrich Isaac, and Robert Schumann, new arrangements of “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty and “The Weather” by Lawrence, and a new commission from Chanticleer’s composer in residence, Ayanna Woods. The Greater Atlantic Partnership and Atlantic Prevention Resources proudly present The Power of Positivity: Life Without Limits Art Contest. The contest is open to middle school students in Atlantic County, grades 6-8. The schools involved will collect all artwork submissions from students before the deadline. Atlantic Prevention Resources will organize a pick-up of all student works. All submissions must be received by April 7, 2025. The top three winners will be awarded a gift card, and first place will have their art displayed on a billboard in the local community. Featured student artwork from talented middle school students will be shown in an art exhibit at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University from April 30 to May 11, celebrating how positive actions and mindsets can lead to a fulfilling, substance-free life. The exhibit will be open to the public for all to enjoy!
