Rowan University Art Gallery and Museum | New Jersey Arts Annual: Artist as Activist | The theme for the Arts Annual 2025 will be Artist as Activist and we will request work that reflects artistic thoughts and responses to that concept. Artist as activist is an artist who harnesses the power of creativity to inspire social and political action. Unlike traditional activism that primarily uses direct action or advocacy, artists engage in activism through various forms. In this case visual art. They use their work to challenge norms, raise awareness about issues, and inspire audiences to think critically about the world around them. We will look for artists whose work tackles a wide range of topics and concerns such as human rights and access to resources, environmental awareness and justice, racial and gender equalities, health and well-being, and the political and cultural climate. Their work may serve as vehicles for expressing advocacy, highlighting injustices, and envisioning alternatives. The Pollock-Krasner Foundation | Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant | The Foundation welcomes applications from visual artists who are painters, sculptors, and artists who work on paper, including printmakers. James Madison University | Furious Flower Poetry Prize | Furious Flower invites submissions from emerging writers for its annual poetry prize. Poets with no more than one published book are invited to submit up to three poems (no more than a total of 6 pages) for consideration. The winner and honorable mention receive $1500 and $750 respectively and will be invited to read James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va in September 2025. MidAtlantic Arts & US RAO | Walking Together: Investing in Folklife Communities of Color Grants | Walking Together: Investing in Folklife in Communities of Color supports folklife and traditional arts rooted in communities of color by investing in artists/practitioners and the community organizations that care for them. It is a national funding program managed by the six U.S. regional arts organizations (RAOs). The program provides funding of $15,000 each to traditional artists, practitioners, and keepers of traditional knowledge, as well as $50,000 each to community organizations and collectives that support folklife in communities of color. WheatonArts | New Jersey Glass Workshop | Exciting Opportunity for New Jersey-Based Artists! Macdowell | Artist Fellowship | About 300 artists in seven disciplines are awarded Fellowships each year and the sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence. There are no residency fees, and need-based stipends and travel reimbursement grants are available to open the residency to the broadest possible community of artists. MacDowell encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds and all countries in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts.
