South Jersey Artscapes Guided Tour |
The Perkins Folklife Center, has developed an unique and fascinating guided tour called “South Jersey Artscapes,” in collaboration with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and South Jersey Cultural Alliance.
Explore the vibrant blend of art and nature with the South Jersey Artscapes tour. An “Artscape” seamlessly merges artistic creations with the surrounding landscape, offering an interactive and immersive experience that transforms ordinary spaces into extraordinary landmarks. These artscapes are more than just visual delights—they’re integral parts of our community’s cultural fabric, rich with history and creativity.
The South Jersey Artscapes tour takes place on September 29th, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, for a guided tour led by a folklorist who will exhibit the hidden gems and captivating surprises that make South Jersey unique. From the whimsical Palace of Depression to the enchanting Fairy Garden, the serene Old Pine Farm, and the historic Arbuckle House, you’ll explore these fascinating sites and more. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to meet some of the talented creators behind these spaces, ready to answer your questions and share their stories.
Your ticket includes bus transportation, and a brief stop at a local restaurant (food price NOT included) where you can purchase lunch. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty and creativity of South Jersey.

Artscapes is a dynamic example of SJCA’s Cultural Asset Map services, which showcase South Jersey’s rich cultural heritage through dynamic, place-based storytelling. These interactive maps highlight the region’s unique sites in a way that brings their stories to life. Through these projects, SJCA is preserving our local culture and offering a platform for other organizations to tell their own stories virtually and dynamically.
