New Jersey Economic Development Authority | A.R.T. Program Phase II Info Session | The New Jersey Economic Development Authority's Activation, Revitalization, and Transformation (A.R.T) Program – Phase II is a competitive grant program for nonprofit organizations aimed at catalyzing community placemaking efforts by leveraging the arts and cultural sector as a creative force for change. Funding will support the creation of public space activation initiatives, such as placemaking projects, public art installations, and arts-based projects, in the downtowns of 31 select municipalities whose commercial corridors have been significantly impacted by reduced commuter traffic due to COVID-19. South Jersey Information Equity Project | South Jersey Information Equity Project Fellowship | The SJIEP is excited to support fellows with awards of up to $6,000 each to help them report on and tell stories important to Black communities in Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester counties. Noyes Museum of Stockton University | AC Walking Tours Series: History of Gaming | The Atlantic City Walking Tour Series allows participants to actively experience the historical landmarks, events, and sub-cultures of Atlantic City and the surrounding “Downbeach” communities which have supported our local area for over 150+ years. Our 2024 calendar will combine tours across various neighborhoods and niche sub-cultures on Absecon Island, Ocean City, and Somers Point. All tours are researched, designed, and led by our resident public historian, Dr. Levi Fox, current assistant professor of History at Immaculata University, and former adjunct of Arts and Humanities at Stockton University. Bring your walking shoes and water bottle, as each tour will cover between 2 to 3 miles of parks, city streets, boardwalks, and beaches. Individual tour descriptions will provide starting, ending, and parking locations; as well as key points of interest along the tour route. | October 26th, 2024 Tour Description: This tour will feature many prominent casino and entertainment establishments in Atlantic City from past to present, primarily in the Midtown Section of the city. Participants will learn about notable people, places, and events which left a mark on the city's landscape. Rowan University Art Gallery & Museum | Prima Materia: Blanka Amezkua, Esperanza Cortés, and Anthony Carlos Molden, curated by Anabelle Rodríguez-González | Prima Materia brings together new and recent works by Blanka Amezkua, Esperanza Cortés, and Anthony Carlos Molden, three interdisciplinary artists working across a dynamic range of expressive forms, including but not limited to sculpture, painting, ceramics, musical and theatrical collaborations, performative actions, curatorial work, community interventions, site-specific installations, and public art commissions. All three artists are experienced makers actively creating provocative artworks that relate to materials and techniques associated with crafts such as embroidery, beadwork, decorative paper folding and cutting, and elements from the scenic arts. Their efforts consistently yield marvelous results, including novel sculptural objects, sumptuously detailed and evocative two-dimensional works, and challenging mixed-media installations that appeal to the senses through their impressive individual and collective visuality. New Jersey Council for the Humanities | Community Conversations: Seeking Interested Speakers | NJCH is currently looking for public speakers passionate about environmental topics viewed through the public humanities lens to provide scholarly presentations and facilitate conversations across New Jersey. WheatonArts | HalloWheaton and the Multiverse of African Cultural Heritage | WheatonArts will be presenting an afternoon of diverse family activities throughout the campus on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are welcome to Trick-or-Treat in Halloween costumes and meet traditional costumed characters played by the talented Mystic Realms actors. The Down Jersey Folklife Center will also present “The Multiverse of African Cultural Heritage”, emphasizing the historic connections between cultures celebrating Ancestral Connections, Halloween, and/or Day of the Dead.
