Moorestown Theater Company receives the Innovator Award
Moorestown Theater Company received the Innovator Award at the Cultural Access Network Ceremony for being the first community theatre in New Jersey to become a chapter of the nationwide Penguin Project. Throughout their programming, Moorestown Theater Company has made significant contributions to the arts and culture of South Jersey. Moorestown produced a Penguin Project musical titled, Annie JR., with fourteen neurodiverse actors and seven neurotypical mentors on April 29th and 30th of this year. The Penguin Project allowed the participating actors the opportunity to build many skills including socialization, communication, and confidence. The Moorestown Theater Company plans to produce a second Penguin Project children’s musical in April of 2024.
The South Jersey Cultural Alliance would like to extend a sincere congratulations to the Moorestown Theater Company for receiving the Innovator Award and for their contribution to the arts and culture in South Jersey.
