March 2nd Saturday Re-cap
By Tania Qurashi , SJCA's Arts Administration Intern
Our Second Saturday program this March 11th in collaboration with Midtown CDC highlighted many artists and performers including those that honor and empower women in the arts at Atlantic Cape Community College.
MudGirls Studio worked with community members to make hands-on art with clay.
At noon we enjoyed an electric performance by KC Chann & The Lung who showed off their musical skills through their own original music and uplifted the audience with an energetic drum circle! After the performance and drum cirlce Lynn Harris and her daughter shared a live poetry reading.
We had Stories of AC, a collaborative projected based in Atlantic City that share stories about the city and its residents, collect descriptive words from attendees to make a word cloud as a way to commemorate the event.
Garland Holloman from GalicaGraphics did a series of art demonstrations for children and teens in attendance. Several other artists were featured during our Second Saturday event such as found-art artist, Christina Trice, children’s book author, Rhonnie Jones andDarlene Dehan of HipHop Science.
We hope to see our everyone at the next 2nd Saturday at Browns Park on April 8th at 11am! You can view our official press release for April here !
