- Douglas Day 2024 | When: February 14, 2024, 12-3PM | Where: COMMS Reporting Innovation Lab Stockton University - 3711 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City | Stories of AC and the Noyes Museum of Art of Stockton University are happy to host this event. The transcribe-a-thon will unite thousands of participants at more than one hundred simultaneous events worldwide. Students, teachers, and community members will help transcribe an unprecedented collection of digitized papers by Frederick Douglass. These papers have been digitized and made available through collaborations with the Library of Congress and the BythePeople platform.
- The Poetic Prowess of the Twin Poets | When: February 8, 2024 5PM | Where: Atlantic Cape Community College | Known for their advocacy of poetry as a tool to positively transform the minds of young and old alike, the Twin Poets, Nnamdi Chukwuocha and Al Mills, are a powerful literary duo that harness their love for the written and spoken word with their dedication to service in the community, to their families and country. Named the 17th Poets Laureate for the State of Delaware in 2015, the Twin Poets bring over two decades of poetic prowess to their insightful performances that address topics, such as interpersonal violence, bullying and the ideals of masculinity. This free, public event begins gathering at 5 p.m. in the Student Center lobby (G Building) with the program commencing at 6 p.m. A free copy of the Twin Poets’ book, “Our Work, Our Words,” will be presented to the first 25 currently enrolled Atlantic Cape students in attendance.
- “The Art of The Quilt: Fiber & Clay” by Gloria Gammage Davis | When: Saturday, February 3 from 2 to 5 PM | Where: 2200 Fairmount AvenueAtlantic City, NJ, 08401 | Exhibit Dates: February 1 to March 30, 2024 | Meet the Artist Reception: Saturday, February 3 from 2 to 5 PM | The African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey, Inc. will present Gloria Gammage Davis' exhibit entitled "The Art of the Quilt: Fiber & Clay. Her quilted art pieces will be on display from February 1 to March 30, 2024, in the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey located at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University in Atlantic City. Davis's delicate art quilt creations focus on African American history and culture. Ms. Davis’ thought-provoking compositions employ classic needle artistry techniques but deconstruct the familiar rectangular quilt with organic inclusions, abstract shapes, sculptural forms, embroidered text, and African symbology. She uses written and embroidered text, block prints, and colorful African textiles to refine the messages of race and heritage in her artwork.

- African American Cultural Committee’s Black History Month Fashion Show | When: February 15 at 7 PM | Where: Mount Laurel Campus, Student Success Center, 900 College Circle, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. Join Rowan College at Burlington County’s celebration of Black History Month with a history-meets-fashion combination. The show will collaborate with the Atlantic City Fashion Week.
- Deep River: A Musical Tribute To The Negro Spiritual | When: February 18 from 1 PM – 3 PM | Where: Burlington Friends Quaker Meeting House, 340 High Street Burlington, NJ 08016 | Get out and about by heading to The Burlington Quaker Meeting House for an afternoon of beautiful music and uplifting expressions of the tragedies and triumphs throughout black history. This soulful event will include the exquisite voices of the Essence of Harmony Choral society, an ensemble in Southern New Jersey dedicated to bringing joy and culture to our communities. Allan Vogelson Regional Library 203 Laurel Road Voorhees, NJ 08043 |Join artist Kimberly Camp for a discussion of her work, including her paintings and dolls, which have appeared in over 100 solo and group exhibitions. She has received two NEA fellowships and is a Kellogg National Leadership Program Fellow. Camp also served as a museum president and CEO for 25 years and has taught at several colleges and universities. She founded Galerie Marie where people can see her work and that of over 200 international artists. She has been featured in Nouvel Objet, FiberArts, National Geographic World, the Village Voice and Smithsonian. Camp received the 2020 ACC Award of Excellence: Craft Makes Us Human for her debut show with the organization, and the Gold Award/Best of Show at the 51st Annual Peters Valley Craft Fair.
